3rd Wave Brewing Owners

The idea of 3rd Wave Brewing Company began in 2010, when long time friends Lori Clough and Suellen Vickers began taking classes at Xtreme Brewing located in Laurel, DE and home brewing on Suellen’s back porch. When Evolution Craft Brewing Company decided to change locations and sell their existing brewery in Delmar, DE, Suellen and Lori took the leap and jumped at the chance to buy the brewery and make their dream a reality. 3rd Wave Brewing Co. was officially founded, September 2012 in the small town of Delmar, DE. Finally, co-owners, Lori and Suellen were able to turn their back yard home brews into professionally crafted ales.

The town of Delmar was extremely welcoming and receptive to us keeping the location as a hometown brewery. Today you can find two of our original home brew creations done in the brewery’s 10 barrel brewhouse, 1st Wave IPA and the Big Reef Porter. We chose the name 3rd Wave Brewing Company in honor of our mutual love of the beach and surfing. Waves come in sets of 3 and the 3rd wave is always the BEST.

After acquiring the brewery, we quickly sought after a head brewer and found John Panasiewicz out of Iron Hill Brewery. John has a great palate for sours and ales of all styles. He has the passion and creativity to help us brew a wide variety of beers to fill our 14 taps in the tasting room that is open 7 days a week.

We want to share our love of the beach and beer with our customers on a daily basis, which is why we have chosen to name our beers with surfing terms and even some hawaiian words. Our tasting room is decorated with surfing memorabilia and always has a chill, beachy vibe. We have rotating food trucks on the weekends. Our brewery is located in the most southern town of Delaware and about 45 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. Come see us at the brewery, making great beer and sharing it with our great friends, family and loyal customers (new and old)! If you can't find us in the brewery, we are probably at the beach soaking it up and searching for the perfect wave. Our motto is Good Friends, Good Waves and GREAT BEER!
